Marion J. Brown

I am a Certified EMDR Therapist, Approved EMDR Consultant, and Approved Facilitator for professional trainings sponsored by the EMDR Institute and EMDR/HAP  organization, having met the rigorous standards of training, consultation, and supervision required by these organizations.  I have been successfully using EMDR therapy since 2001 to help clients overcome the effects of both negative and traumatic experiences. Clients have reported many positive outcomes from EMDR therapy, including the relief or significant reduction of presenting symptoms, a sense of freedom to actively make healthy choices for themselves, and the ability to create and sustain positive relationships, meet education and career challenges with confidence, and enjoy an improved quality of life.

I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused Therapy both of that  focus on identifying personal strengths and building resiliency skills.  I have completed Level I and Level II training in couple’s counseling/marital therapy by Drs.  John and Julie Gottman, and have taken many workshops by other leading marital therapists including Michelle Weiner-Davis, LCSW.

My private practice experience of 30 years has included working for three different group practices, then entering solo practice in 2011.  I have extensive experience in treating difficult and complex personal, couple, and extended family problems.  I enjoy both the challenge and the exhilaration of helping people face their difficulties, reduce their suffering, develop needed skills, improve their self-esteem, develop social support, and living their best life.

On a personal note, I am married, have two grown children and one grandchild.

My husband and I are avid rose gardeners.   We are approved horticultural judges through the American Rose Society, and enjoy traveling to rose shows, both near and far.
